Curricular Structure

ESTRUTURA CURRÍCULAR

In the same way, the researches made by literary theory have been covering a wide area of knowledge. If there are poststructuralist lines of thought, with their interest for the knowledge produced by historiography, philosophy, psychology or psychoanalysis, by sociology, among other sciences, there is also a demand for the aesthetical investigation of the literary phenomenon, stimulated by the lines focused on textual reception. This is an investigation that also focuses on new languages and its interactions with literature. These lines are being incorporated by curricular programs in basic education and there is an increasing demand for the professional that enables graduates already performing at this teaching level. None of this could pass unnoticed by a program that has been aiming, since its beginning, to respond to emergency demands. The classes that compose the curricular matrix were articulated to correspond to a consistent training of the student body, coherently adjusted to the problematic of contemporary scientific production and to the deepening of researches that are of individual interests. All the classes are elective, and each advisor should indicate which ones must be attended by their advised students. Thus, the classes offer encompasses the most plausible number of interested people, serving as a theoretical starting point for the development of dissertations and promoting the evolution of academic papers linked to the two lines of research of the program.

The emphasis of the first line of research, “Poetics of Contemporary Literary Productions”, lies on the specificities of literary art in present times, bringing to the surface the discussions regarding the reception of literary works and the relationships of dialogue and incorporation, when not of interdependency, established by the diverse forms of language encompassed by the arts. The second line of research, “Politics of subjectivity”, has, as a catalyst interest, the problematic surrounding the subject in post-modernity, and the ways through which literature and literary studies have been dealing with this theme. The third line of research, “Literature and Intermediality”, encompasses studies of literatures and other arts and media, such as cinema, theater, painting and music. The fourth line, entitled “Creative Writing”, approaches the process of textual creation in a critical way, encompassing the diverse literary genres (narrative, poetry and drama).
